In the mid 80s, Chanel has came out with serial number to tackle the counterfeit market. Each handbags will come with an authenticity card with a serial number embossed and a sticker that are hidden inside the bag that contains the same serial number. From 2000s, the sticker will consists of Chanel logo, clear tape and hologram security feature which will varies from the date of manufacture.

Though this is an very vital factor of authenticating Chanel handbags, you shouldn't solely base on these ways to authenticate it. This is because authenticity card are often lost and sticker might detached with uses over time.

 

April 2021 - Present As of April 2021, Chanel has launched a new method of authenticating its handbags and chain wallets. Instead of the serial number as shown below, Chanel has implemented the microchip which details will be digitally embedded inside the bags.
